Terms of Service

Last updated: 19 April 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using the Career Lens platform ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and subscribers.

2. The Service

Career Lens provides an AI-assisted platform for generating tailored CVs, cover letters, and practising interview skills. The output of the Service is generated by automated systems and is provided for your personal use in job applications. We make no guarantee that using the Service will result in interviews, job offers, or any specific employment outcome.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

4. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at support@careerlens.org if you suspect unauthorised access. We are not liable for losses resulting from unauthorised use of your account where you have failed to keep your credentials secure.

You may not share your account, create accounts by automated means, or create multiple accounts to circumvent subscription limits.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to generate false, fraudulent, or deliberately misleading content in job applications.
  • Reproduce, resell, or sub-licence the Service or its outputs for commercial purposes without our written permission.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
  • Upload content that is illegal, defamatory, or that infringes the intellectual property rights of others.
  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules, without notice and without refund.

6. AI-generated content

The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate CV text, cover letters, and interview feedback. You acknowledge that:

  • AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or outputs that are not suitable for every context. You are responsible for reviewing all content before submitting it to an employer.
  • You must ensure that any CV or application you submit is truthful and accurately represents your own experience. Misrepresenting your qualifications to an employer is your responsibility, not ours.
  • The quality of output depends on the accuracy and completeness of the information you provide.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you upload or create using the Service, including your CV data and interview recordings. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process your content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service. We will not share, sell, or use your content for any other purpose. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

8. Subscription and payment

Access to certain features requires a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed in advance on the period selected (weekly or monthly). All prices are displayed inclusive of any applicable taxes.

  • Cancellation: you may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to paid features until that date.
  • Refunds: we do not offer refunds for partial billing periods or unused portions of a subscription, except where required by applicable law. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us within 14 days.
  • Price changes: we may change subscription prices. We will give at least 30 days' notice before any price increase takes effect, allowing you to cancel before the new price applies.

9. Availability

We aim to maintain high availability but we do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may perform maintenance, apply updates, or suspend the Service temporarily. We are not liable for losses arising from downtime or unavailability.

10. Intellectual property

The Career Lens name, logo, design, software, and all content produced by our team are our intellectual property and may not be copied, modified, or used without our written consent. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights in our intellectual property other than the right to use the Service as described.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements or that any specific employment outcome will result from its use.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Career Lens and its directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of employment opportunities, loss of income, or loss of data, arising out of your use of the Service.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the total amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £50, whichever is greater.

13. Termination

You may close your account at any time from account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, or if we decide to discontinue the Service, with reasonable notice where possible. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends and your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or via a notice in the application at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
